Board Members

Patrick O'Brien

President

Patrick has lived in the Brampton/Bramalea area for over 30 years and is the current President of the Board of Directors of the Bramalea Community Health Centre.

Patrick has been active in many community agencies some of which are as follows:

  • Chair for Peel Senior Link
  • Consultative Committee Member on the GTAA (The Greater Toronto Airports Authority).
  • Volunteer Member with the Heart and Stroke Foundation in Brampton and Etobicoke offices.
  • Volunteer with the Terry Fox (Canadian Cancer Society) and has served as a member on various committees and projects in Peel.

Patrick is employed as Senior Computer Technical Analyst in the I.T. Department for the Hudson Bay Company. He and his wife Rosalee have three sons, three cats and are the proud grandparents of their little princess “Sophie.”

Karen Murphy

Vice-President

Karen is employed by the Peel Regional Police in the capacity of a Special Constable/Court Liaison Officer.

She specializes in Mental Health and counts as a member of the Canadian Mental Health Association of Peel and Ontario Division.

Karen brings a wealth of knowledge in the Mental Health Field to the Bramalea Community Health Centre.

Derek Rodrigues

Treasurer

Derek is a graduate of Bombay University in the capacity of Chartered Accountant, and has worked in several Senior Finance/Chartered Accountant Positions as follows:

  • Oil Sector industry in Saudi Arabia
  • Ministry of Defense in the UAE
  • Charitable Health Sector in Canada

Derek has acquired over 25 years experience in the Finance Sector and began his career with the Ras Tanura Refinery in Saudi Arabia, ultimately becoming Controller.

He migrated to Canada in 2000, and continued his financial career in the charitable sector at the Multiple Sclerosis Society and is currently the Chief Financial Officer of The Arthritis Society.

Derek is quite knowledgeable in corporate governance, senior management, strategic planning and corporate risk management.

Derek has been as active volunteer for many years for Peel Senior Link and is currently the Board of Director Treasurer for the newly formed Bramalea Community Health Centre, which serves the Bramalea Community and its people that encounter barriers in accessing health care. He is a strong believer in making a contribution by giving back to charitable causes and the community.

Clement Burrowes

Director

Clement currently practices as a Registered Holistic Nutritional Consultant, and is very active as a member of the Malton Community.

His involvement includes diverse roles as follows:

  • President of the Commonwealth Cricket Club
  • Education Director for the Toronto Island Sailing Club
  • Youth director for Malton Black Development Association
  • Facilitator for the Virtues Project (mainly in the schools in Malton) and the Tiger Woods/American Express “Dream Big” project in high schools.

As the Health & Wellness coordinator for UEY (Understanding Early Years) Malton, Clement has not only dedicated himself to the success and well-being of children, but also established a Healthy Walking Groups for adults, seniors, and youth in Malton, advocating for health and wellness across the lifespan.

In partnership with Peel Health and two of the above mentioned groups, a Health Group for parents, students and faculty has also been established at Holy Cross Elementary School in Malton, to generate awareness for healthy eating and the benefits of physical activities.

Most recently, with a grant from the Mississauga Airport Rotary Club, of which he is a member, Clement has implemented a Junior Tennis program for ‘at-risk’ youth. The program, which got underway May 16th, 2009, will be jointly run by the Malton Community and the Malton Tennis Club, of which Clement is Vice-President.

Amandeep Kaur

Director

Amandeep, a resident of Brampton, has been active in the field of Social Work for the past 24 years. She works as a Manager with the Punjabi Community Health Services (PCHS).

The Punjabi Community Health Services uses an Integrated Holistic Intervention Framework to address the psycho-social issues in the South Asian Community.

Amandeep also worked with the Toronto Public Health and Region of Peel Public Health in the areas of health promotion, chronic disease prevention and child health.

Amandeep has received many awards for her work in the field of family violence.
