Black History Month: "The Blind Stigma: Mental Health in the Black Community"

The Blind Stigma PosterOn Wednesday February 17th the Bramalea Community Health Centre in collaboration with the Region of Peel screened the film "The Blind Stigma:  Mental Health in the Black Community" for Black History Month in Brampton.  The event featured Stacy-Ann Buchanan, a Toronto based actress and filmmaker who documented the lives of five people living with mental health including her own personal story.

Using Bold Images to Raise Awareness Across Language Barriers

New immigrant workers as a group face a higher risk of work-related injuries. But most occupational health and safety messages don’t reach them due to language barriers. In a recent study, the Centre for Research Expertise in Occupational Disease teamed up with Bramalea Community Health Centre, who serve a large South Asian population, to explore the use of images to spread key injury prevention messages.
