The Bramalea Community Health Centre was proud to implement the inaugural Cancer Awareness Poster Competition for Youth this year. The competition began in April commemorating Daffodil Month/ Cancer Awareness Month. The competition invited youth enrolled in Grade 4 and 5 to participate in creating a fun, motivational, informative and inspirational poster that informs loved ones of cancer risk factors. This was done to help them discover the connections between early screening and cancer prevention. Youth were urged to think outside the box in terms of creative design and use various media.
The theme was "Motivate your loved ones to be screened for cancer!"
We had over 45 entrants. The judges of the competition were from various disciplines and programs of the Community Health Centre. Judges scored posters on the level of research, creativity, messaging and clarity applied on the poster. We thank the youth of George Vanier Catholic School and Cardinal Newman Catholic School for their enthusiasm.
